A registered representative since 1988, Bill became a CFP® in 1998. He joined
ProVise Management Group, LLC - Florida's third largest independent financial planning
firm - in 1993 and advanced to become a principal, vice president, and senior plan
writer of the firm. Prior to becoming a financial planner, he was a widely traveled
international banker with a major U.S. bank. Bill is a past president and chairperson
of the Board of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA),
Florida's largest chapter. He is a member of the national FPA SRO/Regulation Task
Force and was on the national FPA Retreat 2005 and 2006 Task Force. Bill was also
a member of the FPA Annual Conference CFP® Certificate Program Director's Task Force
for 2006. Bill has been a featured speaker around the country, including a series
of day-long lectures on qualified plans for the National Association of Tax Professionals.
Bill has been quoted and featured in numerous publications including USA Today,
Bloomberg Wealth Manager and the Tampa Tribune. He has also appeared on numerous
radio and TV interviews.
Bill taught all six of the CFP Board-registered education classes through Tallahassee
Community College from 2003 through January 2008, as well as the "Live Review" classes.
Bill joined Kenneth Zahn, Inc. in 2003, editing Ken's material for content and accuracy
as well as writing material for the live review books and educational classes through
2005. In October 2005, Bill formed his own firm, Financial Planning Instruction
Corporation, but continued to use Zahn's material through March 2008. Bill was awarded
his Master of Science-Financial Analysis degree from the College for Financial Planning
in January 2007. The CFP Board has recently approved Bill as the instructor of a
registered fast-track program through Taylor University (Indiana). The 4-day classes
are taught at your location (branch office or hotel). The classes meet the CFP Board
education requirement. My student pass rate for the March 2008 test cycle was 78%
using the old material. I expect my new material will produce even better results.
